Description
This was created as part of an unrealized graphic novel. The publisher was easy to work with. Typically my first design sketch was approved. There were a couple of times where I had to do a second, but this particular piece required three. Certainly not a problem, but I was pretty happy with my first design. That being said, this image wound up being my favorite of the work I did for this project.
I had a good time searching for images of samurai armor to use as reference. I was surprised to see that many of the ancient masks included mustaches.
This is graphite on bristol board. The full image is 11″ x 22″. Please note: using the standard way of creating double page spreads for comic books, this piece uses to separate sheets of bristol board. During the drawing process the two sheets were taped together on the backside. They will be shipped as two separate pieces.
